Preservation, documentation, and international cooperation

The Silk Art Museum systematically invests in research, conservation, and the dissemination of cultural heritage related to the art of silk.
Its goal is continuous development, documentation of knowledge, and active participation in international cooperation networks that promote sustainable development and the protection of intangible and tangible cultural heritage.

The museum's research activity is enhanced through its participation in European programs and strategic partnerships with scientific and cultural institutions.

The Silk Art Museum participated in the European program Tracks4Crafts, which aims to protect and strengthen craftsmanship and cultural heritage in Europe. As part of its participation, the museum contributed to the documentation and recording of the local silk-making tradition, while one of the most important results was the creation of a digital repository for recording local fabrics and designs. The Silk Art Museum actively participated in the European research program ARACNE, which is funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe program. The program aims to highlight, protect, and sustainably disseminate the cultural heritage related to silk production and art in Europe. At the heart of ARACNE is the creation of a "Silk Innovation Ecosystem" — a network of collaboration between research institutions, cultural organizations, and creative communities across Europe. The central axis of the program is the promotion of the European Silk Route as a cultural route connecting historical and contemporary centers of silk production. During its participation, the museum represented Greece's contribution to the silk-making tradition, contributing to documentation, events, educational activities, and international networking. The Silk Art Museum also collaborates with:
• Municipality of Soufli
• Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
• Ministry of Culture
• World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)
• Democritus University of Thrace
• Association of Friends of Metaxas "Chryssalida"
