HISTORY OF THE MUSEUM

The Silk Art Museum was founded in 2008, on the initiative of the Tsiakiri family, with the aim of promoting silk as an element of cultural identity and local history.

The family, which has been continuously involved in silk production since 1954, sought to capture in an organized space the journey and difficulties of silk production, as well as its importance for the economic and social development of Soufli.

With the valuable contribution of architect Maria Xyda, the neoclassical building was restored and converted into a modern exhibition space, with respect for its historical character.

The museum is now a landmark for the region, combining family heritage with a public cultural mission.
